Amoxicillin 500mg Before Dental Work

I am going only for dental check-up after having had a Hip Revision Surgery and do not expect to have any fillings or anything, only teeth cleaning. Is it
necessary for me to take Amoxicillin 500mg before my first appointment for
this appointment and also after this first appointment?

A check-up generally involves some cleaning, tooth scraping for plaque and etc. Thus, it could result in a poke or tear to your gums and that risks an infection, so yes, you should take the antibiotic as instructed. The types of infections you can get from these dental dangers could put your life in danger and your are more susceptible to them after having had your surgery.

Better to take a tablet of this, than to end up with an infection of your heart valves and also end up needing to surgery to replace one or more of those. :-)
