MY DAUGHTER WAS GIVEN THIS DRUG FOR AN EAR INFECTION, TO TAKE FOR 10 DAYS. AFTER 5 DAYS HER VAGINIA LOOKS LIKE A PIECE OF RAW MEAT AND HER BODY IS COVERED IN A RASH. HER DR. SAYS THE RASH IS NOT FROM THE DRUG BUT IT MAYBE SCARLET FEVER. HOWEVER SHE IS NOW ON A NEW DRUG STILL FIGHTING EAR INFECTION, STREP THROAT, A RAW VAGINIA, AND SUPPOSELY SCARLET FEVER. GGGRRRR

All antibiotics are dangerous, some more than others. I have had to go on Amoxicillin Clavulanate again for a bladder infection even though I had a very painful reaction both times (severe joint and muscle pain to point of limping and hanging on the furniture to get to the bathroom, pain in ear and Eustachian tube, nausea, fever). Last time I was prescribed this drug my bladder infection returned after a month. Your daughter must be a big girl by now (your post was dated 2006) and I hope she is over all of those horrible side effects your arrogant and ignorant doctor was blaming on everything except that poisonous antibiotic he prescribed. Hope you got a different doctor. Wish I could find a physician who knows what they are doing but I'm starting to believe they are few and far between.

This medication has been known to cause a non-allergic skin rash, as well as an allergic skin rash as a side effect, it might also cause a yeast infection, which could explain the vaginal rawness, according to NIH reports.

Carol, how are you doing? Have you had any luck, so far? Have they cultured any of your urine samples to see what is causing your repeated infections?
