Yes, a rash can be a side effect of this antibiotic and isn't harmful, unless it's an allergic rash that may get worse. An allergic rash usually involves hives and itching, while the side effect one is solely a topical skin rash. It will usually go away, once you finish your course of treatment with the antibiotic.
However, you should have it checked out to be sure.
