Could you tell me if the metaformin er 500 mg is gluten free? The tablet has IP 178 imprinted on it.

Hi Melany,

Based on my research, Amneal's 500mg Metformin hydrochloride ER tablets imprinted with IP 178, reportedly contain the following set of inactive ingredients:

colloidal silicon dioxide + hypromellose + magnesium stearate + microcrystalline cellulose

However, gluten as well as gluten derivatives do not appear to be listed here, so you should be safe in that regard.
