The Amitiza pills that are currently on the market are both gel caps, one is orange (24mcgs) and the other is pink (8mcgs). Both have the marking SPI on them.

There is no generic available.

Amitiza is used to increase the amount of fluid in your intestines to make it easier to pass stool, so it's useful in treating chronic constipation.

Side effects may include nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea and bloating.
