Alvogen Percocet 10 325
UpdatedI have been taking Percocet 10/325 for years. Recently, I had to get it filled at Target and it's made by Alvogen. Normally, I fill my scripts at Walmart but they were out. I have developed welts and they started the same time I switched to this brand. Is it possible to be allergic to one of the inactive ingredients that is not in the Watson brand from Walmart?

Hi, Chris! Sorry about the problem that you're having.
And yes, it is possible to be allergic to an inactive ingredient. They are considered inactive because they don't have a medial/biological effect on most people, but it is well known that some people react to some of the dyes used, some gluten based substances, as well as others.

Have you consulted your doctor about it?
In the future, they may need to write your prescription as 'brand medically necessary' to make sure you can avoid receiving this generic, again.
Hi Chris. You may be having an allergic reaction to the oxycodone. Anyone at any time can become allergic to anything, especially medications. Oxycodone can have that effect even more so if you've been on it a while. You really should speak to your Dr. bc oxycodone is one drug that can cause anaphylaxis more than other opiate drugs. And, it seems like the more medications you take the more you start turning allergic to more meds. I may be wrong. But several physicians in didn't fields have told me that. I know when I was in late teens & early 20's I had no medical allergies. Yet, now I'm 37 yrs old I'm prescribed 23 scripts each month (unless I get sick bc then there are several more). From the age of 16 up to now I've had 24 surgeries and now I'm allergic to 18 different meds. Some I have taken once & almost died bc I went into anaphylactic shock & some well I had taken for weeks, months & a few of them I'd been on for several years. Then, all of the sudden out of the blue I'd take it and start breaking in hives. The best way to be able to tell what it is to get benadryl & take as directed. Also, get caladryl & put it on all of the areas that are broken out. MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVEN'T CHANGED SOAPS, LOTION, SHAMPOO, YOU ALL PRODUCTS YOU USE ON YOUR BODY. INCLUDING LAUNDRY DETERGENT, FABRIC SOFTENER, DRYER SHEETS, ANYTHING THAT COMES IN CONTACT WITH YOUR BODY. IF YOU TAKE THE BENADRYL, USE HYDROCORTISONE CREAM (ANY BRAND) &/OR CALADRYL AND TAKE ANY HYGIEN/OR HOUSEHOLD CLEANING SUPPLIES IT SHOULD TAKE 5-7DAYS TO CLEAR COMPLETELY UP. SAME GOES WITH YOUR SPOUSER/SIGNIFICANT OTHER. MAKE SURE THEY HAVEN'T STARTING USING SOMETHING NEW AROUND THE TIME YOU STATED HAVING THESE SYMPTOMS. AND LAST BUT VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU'VE BEEN PUT ON ANY NEW MEDS, THEN START WITHAND HOW IT THEM. THE MEDICATIONS YOU CAN GO W/O TAKING DO LIKE THIS: KEEP A NOTEBOOK TO WRITE DOWN & KEEP UP W/ALL DATES NAME OF MED YOU ARE OFF OF AT THAT ONLY COME OFF OF ONE MEDICATION FOR 3-5 DAYS & DO NOT FORGET TO TAKE NOTES. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A LOT OF MEDICATIONS IT SHOULDN'T TAKE. LONG TO FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU'RE ALLERGIC TO. IF YOU'RE ON CERTAIN MEDICATIONS AND HAVE BEEN ON THEM FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME YOU MUST BE CAREFUL BC SOME WILL CAUSE WITHDRAWALS. SO, I WOULDN'T SUGGEST YOU COMPLETELY STOPPING THEM OR YOU'LL FEEL LIKE YOU'RE DYING. SO, ON MEDICATIONS LIKE PAIN MEDS, BENZO'S(XANAX,VALIUM, KLONEPIN, ATIVAN ETC), ANY ANTIDEPRESSANTS OR ANY PSYCH MEDS JUST TRY TO NOT TAKE THEM NO MORE THAN WHAT YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO. I KNOW IT'S HARD BUT IF YOU DON'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS, THEN YOU COULD HAVE A SERIOUS (AND QUITE POSSIBLY FATAL REACTION). I'M SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG TO WRITE THIS BUT I TRIED TO PUT IT IN A WAY THAT WOULD BE SAFEST BC OF THE MEDICATION IT IS AND HOW SERIOUS THE CONSEQUENCES ARE WHEN YOU CONTINUE TAKING SOMETHING YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO. I HOPE THIS HELPS .
This alvogen Percocet 10/325 needs to be recalled!! Not only does it not work at all, it causes rash, nausea, and is just garbage! When is the government going to make sure these medications are checked as well as the filthy factories hardly ever inspected! There are chronic pain patients in this country who've worked long hard careers! WE DON'T DESERVE TO HAVE TO SUFFER SIMPLY BECAUSE THIS 2018 ADMINISTRATION HAS DECIDED TO THROW US AWAY, LET US SUFFER AND DIE BECAUSE OF STREET ADDICTS! BRING OUR FDA TO TEST THIS GARBAGE AND MAKE IT HERE, NOT CHINA, INDIA, ETC. WHERE CONSTANT UNREGULATED DRUGS ARE MADE....IT'S JUST ANOTHER SICK GREED AND ANOTHER WHO CARES ABOUT OUR CITIZENS! I WAS AN RN FOR 30 YEARS! AND I DESERVE BETTER! WE ALL DO! SO WHAT that elderly and disabled can't even get their meds...and end up killing themselves! Talk about death squad! We are poor, can't afford meds, food, to live! Shame on all of you! Get the hell out of the doctor's offices and go fight the cartels and give us what is supposed to be in our medication! I paid into medicare for a reason....thats my blood sweat money! And I have to use it! IT'S bad enough we can't evenget dental care at all!...pretty stupid as mouth and teeth bacteria destroy heart valves, joint replacements....THINK AND LEARN AND TAKE CARE OF YOUR PEOPLE! WE THE PEOPLE!
Re: Jeanie (# 2)
Antidepressants can not be stopped either. The problem is that every time you get a med filled, now the pharmacies can and do give you the cheapest generic they can get...and depending on your insurance can, and do refuse to get brand necessary or even a generic you have taken for sometime. It all comes down to $$...I encourage you all as an Rn for 30 years, to research where your meds are manufactured, even in the US, where the ingredients come from...the Fda does not have the staff needed to inspect factories abroad. Many of which have no hand washing, rodents, sewage running down the street, pills and documents on floors...1 Fda inspector for 500 factories! All documented and easy to find online, pharmacompass is a good source...basically, we have no idea what is in the medications we take now. And patients are not told of recalls until they are stage 4...have caused enough deaths etc. Educate yourself on what is happening with Fda, cdc, and big pharma...you will be shocked! And don't forget the dea and their threatening letters to docs, pharmacy raids...our patient bill of rights and civil rights are being taken away...China has been responsible for pouring our pets, baby formulas, lead painted toys, etc...yet our government lets this go on. Sign up for the Fda recall notices emails, see the slaps on the wrists to these poison factories...I have taken care of 100s of patients forever disabled or dead by "new barely tested meds"... like the stations were. Check the clinical trials...they are us! Best advice is to ask for meds at least 15 years in use...and find out the most reputable cos and brands. Ask for oxycodone without the tylenol...unfortunately, we are no longer able to trust our meds are safe in this country...just cheapest.
