Allergic To Penicillin, Can I Take Doxytet?

I had my tooth removed, and was given Doxytet. Does this pill have penicillin? As I am allergic to penicillin.

It is in a different antibiotic class, but that does not mean that you may not also discover that you are allergic to it. That's usually how it works, if you're allergic to one medication, you'll discover more that you're allergic to.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
