Allergic To Amoxicillin

I'm allergic to amoxicillin. Can I take sulfamethoxazole-tmp ds?

It is in a different class of antibiotics. However, there is a risk that you may discover more medications that you are allergic to.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
