Allergic Reaction To Doxycycline

I was prescribed doxycycline for syphilis. I've been taking it for a little over a week. The sores in my mouth are gone and my urine isn't dark anymore. A few days ago I started noticing my shoulder and neck are stiff and sore. Then my vagina started to itch. The next day I had discarge and I kept thinking there was hair in my mouth and my tongue was turning white. Apparently its called hair tongue? I woke up this morning and I have a canker sore on the inside of my cheek and on the inside corner of my mouth. My Dr said that when I take the antibiotics my symptoms may get worse for a while but that's normal. Is that what's happening? BC I googled my symptoms and it came up side effects of antibiotics. I want to know if I'm having an allergic reaction. Help!!!

Actually, it sounds like the antibiotic may have caused an oral and vaginal yeast infection. It is a very common side effect of them. You'll need to see your doctor for a proper diagnosis and they can prescribe something that treats it very easily.

The FDA lists the other typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
