Allergic Reaction Induced Opiate Tolerance
UpdatedIn short, I was on hydrocodone for chronic leg pain 4 years ago. Very low dose, 5 mg 4 times a day. I spent the day in the woods with my family, woke up the next day swollen head to toe worse than I've ever seen. I couldn't even see my eyelashes when I closed my eyes. I was nauseated, dizzy, cloudy headed, and my kidneys were not functioning properly. I was a nurse so I knew right a way it was my adrenal glands. Anyway, my adrenal glands completely failed that day and never came back. Since that very day opiates stopped working as well. Doesn't matter what I take or the amount. I'm on cortisol therapy so I feel better physically but I'm scared to death and have avoided needed surgeries because I don't know how I'm going to feel afterwards. Doctors don't believe me and think I'm drug seeking as though I just want something really strong even though I told them that won't work either. I've asked them to check my opiate metabolism but they won't. I had to pay out of pocket for my cortisol analysis because they didn't believe I had those problems either. For some reason doctors think everything I say is BS. I don't see anything when I research this topic so I just want to know if anyone else has experience or knows what could be going on?
