All Pharmacies Claim To Be Out Of Stock; Cannot Wait To Fill Rx, Due To Dangerous Side Effects Of Stopping Abruptly

I am disabled, and have seen the same doctor for approx. 12 years. I see my doctor, in office, every 3 months. I have minimum of four diagnoses, re: my neck, back, hip, shoulder, and sciatic pain. Every single pharmacy in my town claims to be out of stock, for my pain medications. I have done extensive research, and the risks of abruptly stopping my (pain) medication are severe. Why are these pharmacies playing games with patients who are victims of long-term, chronic pain?

Hello, Missy! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having.

However, the pharmacies aren't playing games. There is always a shortage of controlled substances for the last few months of the year and has been for as long as I can remember. There are mandatory manufacturing limits and once a manufacturer reaches their allotted number, they cannot manufacture any new product until the new year.

The only suggestion I can make is to speak to your pharmacist to see what is available and then ask your doctor about possibly prescribing it, in the meantime.

Does anyone else have any advice or suggestions to offer?
