Albuterol False Positive For Methamphetamine

I go to pain management. They had tested me and said I was dirty for methamphetamine. Now they say they cant give me my meds. But I don't use meth or any drugs. It's caused by my nebulizer and my inhaler. How can i prove to the doctor that i don't use meth?

Hi Yvonne - sorry to hear about the issues with the lab work. I believe that certain asthma medications can indeed affect drug tests. Do you see different doctors for the pain management versus asthma medication? If so then you can have your pain Dr get the medical records or proof of prescription from the other doc and they should recognize that lab results can be affected by it. Have you already tried doing that? And if so, what did they say?

No this barley happened today when i went to my Dr. Now he says hes going to contact the lab and have it investigated. But I dont see how cause methamphetamines is methamphetamine. Rite

Ok, glad to hear your doc is looking into it. It seems strange but there are definitely cases where one drug can actually trick a test into thinking you have taken a completely different drug. There are numerous medications which are known to cause false positives.

just yesterday i went to my pain specialist and my medication are
1.suboxone films 8mg/2mg
2.gapapentin
3.klonopin
4.albuterol inhaler
Now i only use the inhaler occasionaly since i only have acute ashtma. about 30 min- 1 hour before urine test i took about 5 maybe 6 puffs as i could barely breathe.
once the doctors nurse came in she told me i tested positive for METH!
i havent touched that crap in years. well atleast over a year and a half. i told her all meds i been taking EXCEPT the ALBUTEROL WICH TO HER RESPONSE WAS NONE OF THOSE MEDS COULD CAUSE A POSITIVE TEST. i called in this morning and they told me it was false positive so im all good. when i asked what that meant he just said i was good. NOW DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE POSITIVE UA FOR METH!???

YOU COULD ASK TO TAKE A UA. THEN AFTER USE YOUR INHALER, MAYBE 6 BIG PUFFS AND HOLD IT AND HAVE THEM CHECK AGAIN IN ANOTHER 30 MIN. I'M GOIN THROUGH THE SAME ISSUES. ONLY THEY DIDNT DENY ME MY MEDS. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A FALSE NEGATIVE WHICH MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. I DONT DO METHAMPHETAMINE BUT DID USE MY INHALER ABOUT 6 PUFFS RIGHT BEFORE I WENT IN TO GET U.A'd for my pain doc.
