Mirtazipine is an antidepressant, along with the withdrawal effects, you can also experience rebound effects, such as worsening of the symptoms that you started taking it for, so it is usually advisable to taper off this medication, slowly.

As to the withdrawal effects, they can include: nausea, chills/fever, diarrhea and muddled thinking.

As to the weight loss, it can take awhile, perhaps months and you will need to make sure you exercise and watch your diet, just as you would to lose any kind of weight.

Have you discussed the possibility of discontinuing the medication with your doctor?
