Adderall, Addiction-
UpdatedI've been taking 20 Mg TID of IR generic Adderall > 10 Yrs. Although some "experts" claim they are very, very habit forming, I MUST disagree. Even after +10 Yrs, I have little problem discontinuing the drug at any point. The same goes for benzodiazepines. Possibly it's because I personally adhere or ingest < is directed or skip for weeks on end. This "abuse potential" may be inherent in some. Personally, I believe it is overstating this possibility to "play it safe". The statement, "Drug abusers typically have the tendency to increase the dosage on their own initiative". Which may be true. Most intellegent folks understand that doing that will simply decrease the effectiveness when it is REALLY NEEDED.

Hello, Kim! How are you?
It really depends on the person, some people just don't tend to become addicted to medications as easily as others do and yes, your skipping doses or taking less than prescribed may also help you with that.
However, the FDA does have to warn about their habit forming potential, since the greater amount of people taking them do tend to become dependent on them and they have such a high rate of abuse.
As a stimulant, Adderall may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, nervousness, insomnia and weight loss.
Benzodiazepines could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.
I had a similar experience with high doses of narcotics, I only took them as prescribed and did not become addicted, though many people do. I stopped taking them cold turkey and while the withdrawals were miserable for a few weeks, I didn't crave them and have never missed them.
Is there anything else I can help with?
