Actavis Lorazepam 0.5

Updated

had nothing but bad news with the new sandoz lorazapm which is suppose to be the activus lorazapam, don't know what they did to the product but i have insomnia from the sandoz product, have no idea why there is such a change from each manufactorer, the product should be identical but they like to fool around with these meds and they seem not to care how it effects the patient, if anyone was using activus lorazam and has found something else since sandoz acquired the med, please pass on the info, have tried almost all the other and they don't work

I have taken ativan (lorazepam) from Sandoz for years. The last prescription I got has given me problems just like the I had with two other manufactures ( Watson & Excellin). The problem is that they change the glue or filler without telling the pharmasist or patient. I have problems sleeping & my heard feels weird which makes me fill bad all over. I know it is the pill as I recognized the feelings. How can we find out if the company changed the glue or filler??

don't know if this helps the person who just wrote but i called sandoz and they told me that activus is still making the drug for sandoz, i told him if thats the case why did they make changes in the makeup of the drug and was told nothing has changed but thats a flat out lie as i too have had insomnia from this new product, if anyone knows how to get legal advice on this kind of issue, it would be much appreciated

good to see people come forward on this matter, for myself it has to do with quality of life, the sandoz people have said that activus is still making the product for them but what they won't say is that there are changes that have been made, i myself will be looking at some form of legal action, this company, according to some pharmacist is still using the purepac name on the bottle but put there name on the box (doesn't make much sense)

if any of the people now experiencing problems with the new sandoz lorazapam have found a decent substitute, i think it would really be appreciated if you could share this information, i know when i used other lorazapams they pretty much put me in a bad mood, of course this is nothing as the sandoz garbage gives me the bad mood and insomnia, thanks for any advice

Hi, Joe! I'm very sorry about the problem you're having.

There can be fluctuations in generic medications, they are allowed to differ from the name brand, in the amount of the active ingredient, by as much as plus or minus 20%. In most cases that's a minuscule different that is therapeutically insignificant, but if you're sensitive to any change then it may cause problems for you.

To avoid the issue in the future, you could ask your doctor to prescribe it as 'brand medically necessary'.

Learn more Lorazepam details here.

Unfortunately, you have no legal recourse in this matter, they are allowed to have these fluctuations or vary what inactive ingredients they use, at any time, as long as they stay within the FDA guidelines.

Are there any other questions or concerns?

Okay, here goes. I know this will sound unbelievable to most of you but I have been taking L/Pam for the past 18-20 years. Until now, that I am reading this forum, I have never thought about who makes them or what number or symbols or name is on them. I have had 'off yellow pills', 'dull white', 'white', and 'very white' (we will call that 'liquid paper' white). My prescription allows me to get my order (CVS) in 3 month blocks. The pills I have at this time have a line on one side (I call that the 'cut line' as that is where I cut them for 1/2 dosage), and the other side they have WATSON with a 241 over a 1. I would determine that to be the mg. dosage (1mg.). My prescrip says 'take 1 - 3 times daily as needed. I took .5mg for years then moved up to 1mg. then 1.5 mg. now I am at 1.5-2.0 mg per day. Sometimes I feel as if the prescriptions are given to me with differant dosages as over the years I have felt that even though I was taking the recommended dosage I was getting a different effect. I have learned alot today reading this forum.

I wanted to start reading about this drug as I have been having some side effects that I have not had previosly. In the past year I have noticed a large increase of diminished short term memory. It started out very small, hardly noticeable, to being as it is now that I have been worrying lately of early onset alshimers. I have had a decrease in hearing but an increase in being able to smell oders that dont seem to bother other people. I have gone off the L/Pam for a few months here and there, but within the last year I have been taking around 2 mg a day. I've been through the withdrawl many times, and it gets harder every time. now days I get anxious just thinking about going off of them. I am a male, I just turned 50.

Re: Vince (# 6) Expand Referenced Message

I too have been taking it for 21 years and have experienced short term memory loss (nothing else). I'm at a point here with new doctors and little to none who even prescribe lorazepam anymore due to state's watchful eye. Anyway the new doctor now tells me its time to come off them..lol right... After looking at the research out there about coming off this drug even tapering can have lifelong disabling conditions many years after coming off even causing death or suicide. I can say that I'm nervous now as the information I've been getting lately is pretty clear about the consequences of coming off. If you know of anything please pass on some info.

Re: Vince (# 6) Expand Referenced Message

My doctor told me lorazepam (bezo sedatives) can cause schizophrenia or Alzheimer's earlier.
Doxylamine succinate (anti-histamine, sleep aid) also cause Alzheimer's disease.
