Achy Cramp Like Feeling In Lower Back Near Kidneys While Taking Metronidazole

i am taking metronidazole tablets 400mg 3 times a day with food and im experiencing a cramp like achy feeling in my lower back, possibly my kidneys? also feel slightly sick and had a pounding headache most of yesterday. do i need to swap antibiotics? thanks for ur help n advice xx

Are you making sure to take in the proper amount of fluid each day?

The reason I'm asking is because those are some of the symptoms of dehydration and that can easily occur with these types of medications since they often cause diarrhea as a side effect.

Unless you're on a fluid restriction, for some reason, then you may want to try drinking a couple of glasses of water and seeing if it eases up any. If not, then you should consult your doctor.

I know when I get dehydrated, which is a bad habit of mine, as soon as I notice it and drink some extra water, the aching and headache will usually ease up pretty fast.

But many people do end up dehydrated while taking these, because they often aren't replacing the fluid that is being lost.

I'm not a doctor, so you should double check this information to be sure, but it is an idea.
