About Methadone

I was on methadone for 7 years,I was addicted to pain pills,I took 80 a day It started out just two at a time and got up to 12 at a time,everyone told me I would get addicted but I thought not me ,well I did,I had too take 10 just to get out of bed,it sucked,I wanted too go to rehab more than you know,but was not covered,so couldn't unless I commited a crime,so only thing to do was methadone,no place where I lived so I drived a four hour trip everyday,back and forth to get it,I thought at the time it saved my life but it was another addiction to another,people told me the withdrawls were the worst so of course I didn't want to quit,I moved so were I didn't have to drive so far,then my hole life revolved aroumd it had to plan everything around it,after 7 years I had enough I quit cold turkey,doctors told me not to I could die,but I did,the pill withdrawl was worse,I say if you need it do it,but try to get off fast because it is hard just like any addiction,and the goverment is making a killing on it.thay raise your dose so it's harder to get off.

ya I've been on methadone for almost 2 years , I've been asking my doctor to let me start cutting back after 10 months of taking it and now its almost 2 years and he keeps saying he doesn't think i'm ready . But yet I never failed any of my drug tests since i started taking methadone . I had cancer and took opiods for pain for 3 years and i tried to quit on my own and i ended up in the hospital because i had a heartach so i agreed to start taken methadone . now the doctor at the clinic want let me stop , and i heard the same thing ( THAT METHADONE WITHDRAWL IS WORSE THEN PILLS ) so I am so sick of this crap and going to that dam clinic all the time . so I am trying to fined out another way to quit because my doctor is still saying he won't cut back my dose .

Yes I do agree methodone is the worst when going through withdraws. I have taken just about everything starting from percocets then morphine and oxys. and I thought that the withdraws were bad with those but it does not compare methodone which I was wondering I heard that Methodone leaves calcium deposits in your joints is that why it is so hard to get off of it?

Yes, its difficult to withdraw from Methadone and yes you need a little self discipline. Ive done it several times myself. After the first couple of weeks you'll get through the worst part. And, NO...you wont die from withdrawals. Man up ...
