Zyrtec And Allegra

Is it harmful to take Allegra in the morning and Zyrtec at night. I have tried this for three days and am finally getting relief from my severe allergy symptoms

I was taking allegra d in the morning (12 hr version) and allegra 60mg at night. worked great. my insurance co stopped covering it for me, so i went to zyrtec D 12 hr and a half pill of plain zyrtec at night....generic version. worked. BUT years later i have having other issues. zyrtec (or cetirizine) doesnt warn u of side effects. try to STOP taking any form of zyrtec, even after a short time...and you will ITCH like a mad person. read the posts on zyrtec withdrawal symptoms. I have sever dry eye, severe dry mouth, and have had issues with dehydration for the last 3 yrs, and i know it's from zyrtec (and generic). dont take it. please. i am about to go through this "withdrawal" of itchiness. i am only on day 2. i was up all night with itchy hands and feet and it gets worse. and i feel really tired when i dont take the "D" in the morning. i guess it's like caffeine. i tried to switch to a homeopathic allergy med last yr but was thinking it was THAT med causing my severe "itchies" and went back to the zyrtec, when it was indeed the zyrtec. i am not sure what allegra side effects are, but i am not risking it...it is all natural for me and my allergies and asthma from now on! my kids too!

I didn't find any problems or interactions listed, but it is always best to double check to be sure.

The FDA and manufacturer of Zyrtec does warn about possible side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth.

HotTamale65, your symptoms were most likely from stopping it abruptly, it can also depend on how much you were taking. We are all different, so not everyone will experience the same issue, though I am very sorry that you did. I've had bad reactions to some medications myself, as well as to stopping some, and it is not fun, at all. But please be very careful about your asthma, unlike itchiness that can be annoying, asthma could be life-threatening.
