Zydus 10mg Oxycodone Underdosed? (Page 3)

Hello all. For the last 6 months, i've been prescribed various meds/treatments/pain meds for severe head pressure and neck pain. I had to stop taking any form of Hydrocodone because it makes my skin breakout in open sores (gross, i know). On May 6th, my PCP prescribed me Oxycodone 10mg 4times daily with great results and it made me very fuctional. He gave me another script for the same medication and when i went to the pharmacy, they filled it and when i got home, i notices the tablets/drug company was different. Well, was i in for a suprise. The new generics my pharmacy had were made by Zydus Pharmaceuticals and are imported from India? Well, to say the least, i've been taking almost twice my dosage to get the same effect. There's no way on earth that my tolerance doubled in less than a day! Now, my PCP thinks i'm trying to get more pills, and the pharmacy thinks i'm crazy. The first prescrption i got the 10mg oxycodone from this manufacturer: KVK Tech Inc (pink and "k 56" imprint on them. And they worked fabulous. These Zydus ones seem wayyyy underdosed as i'm taking around 5-6 tabs compared to 4 tabs of the KVK Tech brand. Any info/advice is greatly appreciated!

Wow I decided to check into this because I had the suspicion that something was off about this brand of Oxycodone. This Zydus brand is an absolute joke. How the hell can these still be on the market? Everywhere I've looked I see people confirming that they are not effective at all and if we try to say something about it to our PCP or pharmacy they look at us like we're drug abusing criminals. I know there's problems out there concerning Narcotic pain medication but those of us with real pain are having to deal with so much BS just to be able to function normally. Anyone know of any legal suits against Zydus? If not there damn well should be...

I just think right their with that question WILL ALL raise a RED FLAG..

please let me know what you find out from the lab about the ingredients in your medicine. I have been having the same issues with my pain medicine but everyone seems to think I am lying.

You are 100% right. When I was changed to different strengths of pain meds, I asked my pharmacy which brands they use b/c I noticed a difference in strength and they were nice enough to bring the bottles out to me, show me what they looked like and even said which ones were a bit better. You have to know your pharmacy and people that work there. There's a trust issue there that's very important. So I found the ones that worked the best after some trial and error and they put it in the computer to only order the ones I asked for. And just a side bar- You can do this with all medications. I get the same companies that I have asked for each month in all my medications.. Don't be afraid to ask.

Please post the results. I just noticed the different manufacture on my 10 MG from KVK-T to ZYDUS. Pharmacist had a casual response when I inquired. Not sure what to think.

Jags, the best oxycodone to get in any strength is made by Actavis. Never Zydus their stuff is trash,. Always research your drug manufacturers and you can also ask your pharmacist before they fill it if they have Actavis most of them do.

Hi there so I just want you to know that the np 12 pill is the exact same as the k 56 pill 10mg just different manufacturer. Same dose ext. Ppl just don't like switching brands it's all mind over matter they do work the same. I used to be a pharmacist I know this stuff.

I just wanted to chime in about the Zydus brand Oxycodone 15mg;
I looked it up because I noticed right off that it is weak.
I won't go into my history too much but my lower back is worst case scenario. -multiple back surgeries blah blah blah. I've been taking Oxycodone since 2001. The medicine has always worked......until recently I was given the crappy Zydus brand.
The Zydus brand is a joke. It does not touch the pain whereas the other brands work fine. At times, it seems I am withdrawing and have had no medication at all.
I've coined it: "Zydus-itis".

Bottom line: Zydus brand oxycodone does not work! I have multiple failed orthopedic surgeries and was rx oxycodone 10mg 4x a day which has been very effective for years. The brand was KVK TECH. Recently my pharmacy was given Zydus by their supplier and then I was given this brand by my pharmacy. Immediately I noticed that I was having increased pain and very limited activity levels. I began having such horrible episodes of spasms and agonizing pain. I had to go to the ER and get IV pain meds and toradol. I called the pharmacist and he said he had other patients tell him that their oxycodone meds where fake. He looked into the issue further and discovered all the patients had the Zydus brand. I went back to my pain dr and the entire waiting room chimed on when they heard me discuss the Zydus issue with the nurse. Every patient on pain including the cancer patients were trying to find a pharmacy that did not dispense the Zydus brand. My pain dr now instructs his patients to speak with their pharmacist and only get the KVK brand. I will tell you almost all the pharmacies are being sold Zydus by their supplier and KVK is getting harder to find. Legal suit??

You are not Crazy. I have been taking 5 10mg pills a day for 13 months for sever neck problems. this past month my pharmacy had changed to the Zydus brand. I noticed it on the very first pill. We are not crazy. All generics are not created equal.

I always have used the same pharmacy for the last 10 years.. So when I got my morphines filled I learned to look at the paper stapled to my bag that plainly tells you the drug manufacturer on it.. And since I discussed it with the pharmacy manager whom I will say is the nicest man I have ever met!! He informed me to read up on Zydus and that's how I found out that they had been shut down several times and once again they are open and that most pharmacies use Zydus because of their cheap prices on narcotics.. So all I can offer for advice is read the paper that is stapled to your bag or inside your bag before you walk away from your pharmacy counter.. You can refuse that brand, it is within your rights to do so.. My pharmacist no longer orders Zydus brand of anything because of the amount of complaints that were received..If the pharmacist tries to tell you otherwise go somewhere else.. But you can always call ahead and tell the pharmacy what your medication is and ask what drug manufacturer they use!!! But plz read up on Zydus, they should not be allowed to be open after being closed so many times for the same reason!! I don't understand that at all!! But I thank god that I have a good relationship with my pharmacy and my pharmacist and all the pharmacy techs that work there... If this is still going on with anyone of you I wish you the best and I hope you are able to get your medications and that they work the way they are supposed too!! This Zydus company should be closed down FOREVER!!!!

Jags , you can always call and ask the pharmacy before you take your prescription in what drug manufacturer do they use.. I use to do that, they will tell you.. I have used the same pharmacy for over 10 years and the pharmacy manager is who told me to read up on Zydus!! He was right they have been shut down several times and other pharmacies us Zydus because they can narcotics at a cheaper price and that shows they don't care about their customers at all!! I hope everything works out for you!!

What pharmacy carries the zydus brand they work so much better I need zydus oxycodone 10 mg I came seem to find them. Three other brands don't work for me

You must work for Zydus to make a post like that. This is a forum of patients who swear Zydus brand oxycodone DOES NOT WORK. Zydus should be investigated and the authorities can use my Zydus pills to evaluate their authenticity. Bottom line again: DONT LET YOUR PHARMACY GIVE YOU THIS BRAND. The KVK works fine.

Don't care if your a pharmacist or not, you obviously do not take these pills or else you would know. It's def not mind over matter. These zydus pills are absolutely filled with fillers and binders. I know every brand has fillers and binders in them but, this brand has alot more. It's normal to get a little bit of pill that is not water soluble but not the amount that are in these zydus pills. They are absolutely crap. Thanks for your input, but it's honestly absolutely useless. Unless you are or have taken them, you have no right to be telling anybody it's MIND OVER MATTER. Typical, you may know alot about oxycodone and so on, but you have no first hand knowledge about how these pills or any pills for that matter actually manage pain and Compare to other brands.

I recently been prescribed zydus brands and in 15 yrs that brand is the only one that makes my pain worse. I am in too much pain right now to even talk about it.

You are absolutely correct! I have been taking KVK 20mg Oxycodone Brand for a few years. It has been great for my Neuropathy pain relief! Today I received for the first time the Zydus brand from CVS pharmacy. I did not realize they were different until I took the second one in my mouth. I am so angry because they do not work!! End of story! They just do not work. I called my pain management doctor and they said they had been getting this same complaint from other patients. I called the CVS pharmacist and she said she had no control over what the CVS company was buying. So the good news is that I am aware of this problem and only have to endure for one month. Next month I can go back to Walgreens for the KVK brand!

I have been taking oxycodone for over 15 years now due to a broken back in 3 places. My small hometown pharmacy now seems to never have the same brand. Every month i get a split brand day when I refill. I get 60 rhodes 20mg then they order the remaining 60 usually actavis (s***ty) or Sun Pharma or Zydus & Qualitest. Sometimes I get all 4 due to them just not having the stock. So I have taken all 4 of these brands and within a week apart and the two brands I swear by are Qualitest (but they no longer make 20mg fyi) and Zydus, the others are all s*** and I have to take double. I do not abuse my meds and take as directed but there is a tremendous difference in generics and the strengths. Had I not been subject to random and multiple brands over the past year I would say meds are meds but if that were the case why are brands so expensive? Answer- because of the quality of the active ingredient. Why are generics 90% cheaper? Answer- because of the quality of the active ingredient. The cheaper the generic the less effective it will be... Cheaper means stepped on to maximize profits so you get a lesser grade of product. Pharmaceutical companies are no more than drug dealers and generic companies are the low lever dealer with a more affordable product but less effective. End of story.

Chris, my attorney sent my samples of Zydus brand 10mg oxycodone to DYNALABS for a quantitative and qualitative analysis. He sent 10 pills. All Zydus pills that were evaluated had only 3-4 mgs not 10. He is looking into legal remedy.
