Zyban And My Experience
UpdatedHi, I have been on zyban for just over 2 weeks and it hasn't been a good experience at all. The first couple of days I took it a night just before bed and nothing bad happened other then weird dreams and not falling into a deep sleep so I questioned weather u actually had any sleep but that I could handle. 4 days later I had to start taking 2 a day and the first couple of days I had bad tremors but that was really all. I thought I could handle it then as the days progressed things started to get worse and by the way I was SMOKING MORE !! But these past few days I have felt paranoid and insecure, unsure of everything and finding it hard to concentrate, think and make simple conversation. I thought I could beat it but it's just getting worse. At work it the worst. I've just started a new job and I think everyone is talking about me , I'm finding it hard to pick up even the simplest of things learning and I'm just feeling like I'm loosing it! Not a good feeling especially trying to start a new job and make a good impression on my work colleagues. I have suffered from clinical depression in the past but felt I had overcome it finally after years of it controlling me and I have been depression free for nearly 3 yrs. after a really really bad day at work yesterday I decided that I should stop the zyban as it's not fun feeling like u t loosing your s*** and the paranoia is unbearable. I have to tell myself over and over its just the zyban this isn't normal. So people be very careful with this drug. I wanted to give up smoking so bad and I tried champix a few times over the yrs and the side effects were intolerable eg feeling sick all day , extremely cranky etc so I thought zyban was the answer. It turns out zyban is worse. I just hope I don't look like I'm crazy at work and stop zyban in time :/

Hello, Unsure! How are you doing? I am very sorry about the experience that you had.
Yes, those types of things can happen to some people on these medications and with as severe as you're describing, it probably just isn't the right drug for you to take.
Have you ever tried any of the straight antidepressants? They do sometimes help with smoking cessation.
