Zombie-like, Flat Affect, Spacey

I have been on depakote for about a month now. I feel worse now than I did when I wasn't taking it. I am so spaced out it's not even safe for me to drive. Is this what I have to look forward to while on this med?

Hi, Deb! Sorry about the problem that you're having.

Depakote can cause those types of side effects, but they should start to ease off soon. It generally takes about 4 to 6 weeks for your body to get used to a medication and the side effects to start tapering off.

If they don't, or if they get worse, you should consult your doctor as it may not be the right medication for you, or the dose may be too high.
