Xyzal - How Long Does It Take To Work For Ciu

Last night we switched my 16yo from Claritin to Xyzal - She woke up with more hives than normal. Should this start working right away for hives? Or does it take a while to build up in the system?

Why was her medication switched?

It should work within 15 to 20 minutes, just like the Claritin did. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth.

Neither of these may work super effectively for hives. Were they prescribed by her doctor? What is she allergic to?
