Xtampza Er Users Effectiveness (Page 7) (Top voted first)

I need ppl who have tried the new Xtampza er med to tell me if it works the same as oxycontin? I need to switch so I wanted to know the strength of the new med in comparison.

God bless u for being able to get threw the day with only one 5 mg oxy a day with the Xtampza ER! My doctor gives me 2 38 mg Xtampza with 5 15 mg roxys for break trew pain, I used to get 20's sure miss them??

Dont worry, the pain clinics will cut people down even more next time. My pain doctor told me the 36mg xtampza was just a smaller dose that they use, when they begin bringing people down off of high doses.
All of the pain doctors are trying to get people on lower doses. I was on 10mg oxycodone 6 ×'s a Day, all of a sudden bc of Government Regulations they put me on 13.5 Xtampza er twice a day, thats quite a drop. Im Bed Bound, but was able to do theraband exercises, now im unable to, they dont seem to care, ive been to 2 different doctors now, its getting really bad.

It's not a u.a., it's a uds. A u.a. doesn't test your meds. A uds does. I'm a toxicology rep. It sucks what the insurance companies are doing to you guys. My dad was on oxy 80 extended release 3xs a day and 30s 4 times a day. They stopped paying for his opanas so they gave him the 80s. Then his Dr got raided (for insurance fraud) so his new Dr went from 3 80s and 4 30s (which was too much) down to 2 80s & 4 10s. Now insurance won't pay for the 80s so he's getting 2 36s twice a day. He's going to be very upset when he takes them based on these reviews. It's awful guys and I feel for you but it's the fault of the people who abuse it. They ruined it for you guys. The pill mills writing hundreds of pills to anyone with money and the people that sell and abuse it are the reason for this. It's a damn shame.

Get mad at the junkies that abuse it and the pill mills that caused the need for formulas to prevent people from abusing it. It's hard to figure out who uses and abuses. As someone who works for the labs that test people, you can't tell most of the time. I've seen 70-year-olds on coke and cops on various substances. Teachers selling their meds. They can't just do stuff for some people and not others. For example, they can't test on suspicious people. That's discrimination. Plus 70% of people fail their tests in some way. SEVENTY PERCENT. You're blaming the wrong people.

Because unfortunately a lot of people DO abuse the medication. It's bear impossible to determine who does and doesn't. I work for a toxicology lab and the doctor can check the pdmp and do drug panels, but drug panels are beatable. You can take your drugs 27 days out of the month and then take them correctly the last 3 and pass the drug panel. It does suck that people who don't do anything wrong get hurt by this but that's how it has to be. The country has an issue and there's no way to know who is using and who is abusing so they have to go out of their way to make formulas to try to deter abuse. But to be honest almost no other country writes for pain medication like ours. 90% of the people on pain meds here wouldn't be on them in other countries.

Raising the does on garbage like Xtampza does nothing I'm taking 2 36 mgs a day and I get absolutely no relief from pain this drug is nothing but a watered down version of OxyContin. Even with a 15 mg oxycodone break threw med with the Xtampza there's still no relief. I'm so to have back surgery soon and this is what I'm suppose to take after surgery for pain no freaking way! This medicine is horrible!

This medicine is 100% total crap does absolutely nothing for pain ! It's just plain wrong the meds out there that there trying to push on people like me who suffer from severe chronic pain

All the computers are now linked together so doctors are not over prescribing anymore and people aren't selling pills anymore either. The only problem is all the heroin going around because it's nearly impossible to get pain meds nowadays. So it's time for the DEA to leave us chronic pain patients alone and do something about the heroin. I'm having back surgery in two weeks and get no meds for recovery except for 2 36 mg Xtampza which is pure watered down garbage and does absolutely nothing for pain!

Its truly a disgusting situation. Xtampza is crap IMHO. It sucks when the GUBMINT is in the exam room, and Drs are afraid to RX anything. I have heard from other CPPs that Xtampza needs to be taken with a high carb meal to be effective. I am so sick of all the BS.

I go to a pain clinic (procedure mill) and am on a minimum dose of xtampza. My "breakthrough" pain is 24/7 and I only get 2 5/325mg Vicodin a day for it...big deal! I save them up for the weekend when I see my guy so he doesn't have to see me in tears from the constant pain, only when the 12(8)hour xtampza wears off & I wait to take my next dose. Then the tempers flair, constant pain kinda does that and the meds work less & less so the pain is worse and worse. So next month I start a series of 6 procedures towards both sides getting a nerve block. Just had 2 surgeries for spacers, 1st one didn't heal right. Tired of it and then the government not trusting us and insisting on the 6 month U/A's, lol. Like being in this much pain isn't bad enough, give us too little pain meds & make us pee for them.

Surprised that you can have this delivered. Thought all opioids had to be picked up at pharmacy. One thing about this drug is that there is no Tylenol in it. Not like regular Oxycodone. I'm really confused about instructions for taking with food. They're not clear at all. Does anyone know about taking Xtampza with food? Instructions say with same amount of food each time. Exactly how much food do they mean? I don't have any trouble with swallowing pills so those instructions do me no good. Thanks.

Ranting is allowed, we all know of the reduction of the quality of life and for many people, venting to those that really know and can sympathize with all that true my matters now, everyday, hour and second. At some point along this journey there will be some relief, more if those that think they know better leave it to the few that have been educated and preferably have experienced suffering of the magnitude where all passions in life are superseded because of the loss of the quality of life.

I'm glad to know that it's working for you. I'm in my third month on this Rx and I'm thinking that it's working. Some of the instructions say to take with food, some say to take with high fat and high calorie meal. I can't find details on what they mean by their instructions. Do you know exactly how much fat and/or calories they mean? I'm thinking that these amounts dictate how much of the drug is released at a time. Would appreciate any help. Again, glad for your success.

My prescription is for two pills a day (every twelve hours). 62 pills would cover you for the month if your Rx was the same. If you don't mind my asking, how many pills does your doctor prescribe?
