Xolair - My Experience

I started Xolair when I was 16 and I have now been on the drug for 5 years. Before Xolair my asthma and allergies were uncontrollable. I had been on steroids full time since I was 7, and as a result of this I was combatting multiple steroid side effects such as thinning bones, stunted development, weight issues and many more. Even on full time steroids my asthma was uncontrollable. I spent my childhood in and out of hospitals and only managed to attend school part time. My illness effected every part of my life. My parents and my pediatrician had been pushing for me to start Xolair and at 16 I was finally able to get onto a trail of the drug. I can honestly say it has 100% changed my life. It worked like a miracle. I was able to come off steroids for the first time in 9 years. I stopped having attacks, I became stronger and healthier. I was able to live my life and I am now able to have a successful full time career. Something neither my parents nor my Specialists ever anticipated. I am a heathy young adult and I can honestly say that Xolair did that for me. Don't get me wrong I totally agree Xolair has side effects, I have joint pain, headaches, increased risk of heart problems and issues with pregnancy. My body is also dependent on Xolair as it was steroids so it is unlikely i will ever be able to come off the drug to get pregnant. But despite all of this I still believe that Xolair is my little miracle and I could never have led the life I currently do without it.

Hello, Jessie! How are you? I am so glad you found something that works so well for you and has restored your quality of life.

My mother-in-law also has very bad asthma and allergies, so she's been on various adventures to get hers under control, especially when she sees a new doctor who wants to switch her medications.

Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, can possibly include skin rash, itching, fatigue and ear pain. Have you ever experienced any of these ones?
