Xarelto Side Effects. (tinnitus And More)
UpdatedHello to anyone interested. I have been taking Xarelto for 3 months. 20mg once a day for DVT and P.E's post knee replacement. Started searching for possible effects of the drug and have found that many people seem to have similar side effects to mine. First surprise was sudden nose bleeds. Was warned that I may get a rash or itches, and I certainly do. Bruising for no apparent reason also and increased back pain (although to be fair I do have severe spinal issues) but probably the most annoying thing is very loud ringing in my ears (tinnitus), more so in one side. I'm pretty sure that we are not just imagining this stuff folks, and for those professionals that downplay the tinnitus, it is no joke! It is making life quite difficult. Head aches (some quite severe) are also a problem however I'm not sure if that is a product of the drug or the tinnitus.
Regards and/or condolences to any other sufferers.

Hello and yes I do have the side effect of Tinnitus and it is annoying and has affected the way I hear things people say to me. I also have back and muscle aches. I have had headaches as well. But I keep telling myself be happy to be alive and well after succumbing to multiple bilateral PE's. I have been on Xarelto 1.5 years. Take good care:)
Re: Truthfully yours (# 1)
I have been on xarelto for a couple of months now, I also have ringing in my ears and it’s loud, I have blurred vision to the point I can barely see, and eyes are constantly watering, and it’s not allergies, I have dry eyes but its never ever been this bad,I’m weak, so very tired, and legs hurt right foot and ankle swells bad. I have had these symptoms before on other medications but never this bad. I’m 74 and like the other lady I’m ready to stop xarelto or any other blood thinners. Same goes for B P medicine toprol xl.
Headache is listed as a normal side effect of this medication in the details provided by Medline Plus. Tinnitus has been found among those that take it, it could be worsened by the headaches, or vice-versa.
Are you on any other medications? You might need to try something else, if this one is making you that miserable.
Beverly, I wouldn't advise stopping any medications, without your doctor's approval. There are others you can try, if these ones are making you miserable. It took me about a year to find medications I could take for my high blood pressure and heart condition, without being miserable. It is sometimes just a matter of trial and error. Are these the only ones you take?
I took Xaralto for 8 weeks and was only on that drug when I developed tinnitus in 1 ear.
I started Xeralto 2 months ago. I have noted tinnitus in both ears, change in memory, weak legs, feel depressed. It seems any of these anticoagulants had bad side effects.
Re: VerFree (# 3)
I take highest dose Xarelto also after serious bilateral PE ,and I'm another sufferer now of loud tinnitus. This seems more common after reading discussion forums. Thank you for helping me realise it's actually a common side effect I will try to switch medications now
Ask your doctor to reduce Xarelto to 10MG a day; this is approved by FDA for log term use after six months. Most side effects will go away......
Hi there, sorry to hear that you're going through this.
I have been taking a daily 20mg dose of Xarelto for a saddle PE since last October. I'm due to come off of it towards the end of March.
Since I started this therapy, I seemed to have developed both tinnitus and pulsative tinnitus. I hear the ringing now as I type this and felt a whooshing sensation earlier. I have been advised now to book an appointment with my doctor fiest thing tomorrow, for a physical examination.
Praying that there's nothing else going on there, but I feel you and how annoying this is to manage. Finding it very hard to focus at times.
Hope you feel better soon.
I have been on xeralto for 3 months and now have the loudest ringing in both ears all the time and my brain definitely is not thinking very well.
Never had tinnitus before so googled and found this thread.
