Xarelto Every Other Day Instead Of Daily

I have a successful cardio version 2 months ago. I take 200mg Amiodarone and 20mg xarelto daily. I am in a higher insurance tier until Jan 2017 and a 90 day supply of xarelto is $455 (I pay 45%) I don't want to stop taking xarelto but can I take xarelto every other day instead of daily?

You should take it as instructed by your doctor, because doing otherwise could put you in life-threatening danger.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising.

However, given that this one is so expensive, you may want to ask your doctor about a cheaper alternative that you can try.

What if there is no other alternative? My copay with Medicare is $569 a month, completely out of financial reach for me. Warfarin is really not an option as I am a hard stick and my veins are pretty much shot from infusion chemotherapy. There are no generic drugs other than warfarin.

You can get Xarelto for $10 per 90 day supply if you have insurance but can’t afford it. I pay $10 every 90 days. Here is where you apply.

That is only with commercial insurance. Not available if you have insurance that says Medicare RX on the card. I was told by Jansen.

He asked if he could take the Xarelto every other day, and you had your PDR answer with labeling drivel.

YES or NO please. I’m in the donut hole and my Xarelto costs half of my mortgage payment.

Yes of course taking something every other day is risky vs. taking every day. But HOW much is the theoretical risk v.s. the 100% risk of living without food or on our front lawn when we get foreclosed?

I can handle a 20% higher chance of a stroke or embolism, while 50% & up could induce me to selling another of my three kids.
