I have been on 15mg of Xarelto along with 40mg of Crestor for approximatley 8 months and have suffered through a distended abdomen and burning and aching in my hips, legs and feet. After blood tests and scans ruled out anything sinister I chose to stop taking Crestor altogether. Within a week my abdomen was no longer distented and much of the pain in my hips and legs reduced to a point where I actually got some sleep. I have now started back doing my walking and concentrating on eating everything right but my weight inexplicably is going up and up. I have also noticed my tension type headache and tinnitus which I have had both for 11 years has intensified and difficult to ignore. I can only think the weight gain can be caused by Xarelto...there seems to be no other explanation and I have asked my doctor to put me back to Warfarin. The increase to my tension headache and tinnitus may have been caused by Crestor although it has not diminished since stopping that medication 3 weeks ago. Has anybody else noticed these side effects taking Xarelto?

Yes, I am going off this s***! I understand! Go off of it. I am looking forward to being back to my self. Screw what they say. I know my body. It has also made me depressed. To hell with them! I am on my way off and feeling better already. We are their ginney pigs-no more! I worked with medicine and licensed doctors! Enough is enough!

Ive been losing weight steadily for months, 60lbs. Discovered i have Afib and was put on Zerelto and quit dropping weight and have struggled to not gain..no matter what i do i have not dropped a pound in months. After researching i have quit the Zerelto and started on a natural supplement and my weivht loss has started again.

I have been on a weight program and have lost about 69lb..started on Zerelto..im not gaining but seems no matter what i do dont any weight..have been at same weight for weeks and werks and struggle to maintain.

This drug caused rapid weight gain, extreme leg pain and numbness! I have dropped the xarelto and am very satisfied with warfarin!

Ive been losing weight steadily for months by changing mybeating, lifestyle.i have quit dropping no matter what I do..i am now on 15r mg Xerelto/day. Could Xerelto be the cause?

Hi everyone. I stopped taking xarelto in May 2016. One interesting (awful) symptom was I felt like Dorothy after she ran through the poppy fields. An overwhelming need to nap. Sometimes 2 or 3 hrs a day. I actually missed an appt because I couldn't wake up( and I'm 10 mins early to everything-MORTIFYING) I was on the drug for 5mo's due to a DVT clot. The drowsiness stopped after I stopped the drug. I STILL haven't lost the 20lbs of fluid retention. I believe the drug gives us leaky gut , or leaky capillaries. A holistic chiropractor has given me a product called RESTORE to try. Google it. I've tried everything else. I'm excited because I've been told it has worked for others. I will happily be everyone else's gynny pig and report back !!!

I have gained weight, fatigue, nausea, sores in mouth, black stools, bad breath, pain in stomach. Been taking it since May 2016. Stopped taking it this past Friday when I dozed off watching my 1yr. old great grandson. That did it for me. I used to have so much energy, I went and purchased all kinds of energy drinks, probiotics, stomach pills, when I stopped I was shocked at how good I felt. I missed out on so many things, because of fatigue. I don't see my Dr. until June 7, but I just can't take it anymore. I feel like a zombie, but didn't have a clue it was Xarelto.

I agree with everything you said. I am on xarelto 20mg's a day for a-fib following OHS in 2013. I HATE IT. I have gained weight, I am exhausted, I am short of breath. I also took myself off Lisinipril due to the coughing. They have me on Simvistatin, Metoporal and a lospartan. I too have naturally low blood pressure. NOW Xarelto co-pay just went up.

Can Xarelto make you gain weight? Ever since I've been on Xarelto I feel like I gained some weight.

I have been on Xarelto and have gained tremendous weight and have shortnees of breath indeed Xarelto causes weight gain but unfortunately my doctor says if I stop taking Xarelto I will definitely get a stroke

I am on xarelto 15 mg twice a day. Can I still use apple cider vinegar daily?

I was out on xarelto after being diagnosed with a clot in my right subclavian vein at Christmas 2015. I almost died while they messed around deciding what to do. Thank god for my daughter an RN and my advocate while not quite with the program. Before starting xarelto was 184 pds @5'10" now in Feb 17 regardless of diet and exercise am back to 210. I was 408..had bypass surgery no clot. Can't seem to win. Tried Eliquis but felt like I was dying. Thinking about quitting and seeing if anything happens...50/50 chance.

I have been on xarelto since 07/23/2016 when I developed a blood clot in my ankle and popped and went to my lungs, after i gave birth to my son that passed away. I have gained about 50 pounds from being on this medication in 6 months. I have the rest of this month to do then hopefully I'll be off the xarelto. I feel to ugly and fat from all the weight gain. I hope and pray I can lose this weight. I feel as if my husband doesn't find me attractive anymore and he still tells me he does but we all know 50 pounds is a lot for a human being to convert to... I have always had the headaches, awful leg pain, random pinching in my body, and exhaustion. They stated it was because my iron is low, so I took iron pills and it seemed to kinda help with my energy but not much. Every time I eat anything I feel like a whale, and I can't wait to be off. I have a cat scan done on the 16th this month to see if the blood clots are gone!

Hello there, I'm still trying and I'm with slimming world now , weight loss is very slow but I've lost the 20 lbs gained while taking xarelto to. It's taken since March , I also have aches pains and tiredness. Lack of energy to build up exercise and I seem to be stuck .

Hey everyone, a group of us have started another forum on this site titled "Xarelto fluid retention" b/c we feel that this might be the culprit...we have been sharing some thoughts on what this might be, as well as sharing some ideas...we are all currently dealing w/ this in the present time. Most of us have been off Xarelto for some time w/ no weight loss as of yet so we are open to any ideas that anyone wants to share. We are pretty much trying to figure this out on our own b/c most doctors don't seem to acknowledge permanent weight gain or water retention as a symptom or side effect of Xarelto but if enough of us come forward they will have to acknowledge it even if it is listed as a rare symptom. Evidently it is possible b/c we all acknowledge that it occurred and in most cases is still occurring even months after stopping this awful drug.

Hi. I was on Xarelto for 5 months for a DVT. Like others, I gained 20 lbs of water weight. Previously I excercised daily and was in great shape. I started taking Green Vibrance, morning and night, a 500 mg of Bromelain on empty stomach morning and afternoon.( can interfere with sleep at night) and two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar when i get up, and before i go to bed. Sometimes 1 tbsp at lunch. I JUST LOST 3 lbs FINALLY. I think my body is healing and beginning to release the water. Also my feet aren't as sore. Sometimes I also put a half tsp of turmeric in a glass of V8. delicious and helps too!
