Unfortunately, you are always going to have a problem if you are going to a new doctor and asking for a specific medication. Most doctors will view this as drug seeking behavior, especially with a medication like this, because Xanax is a Benzodiazepine, which is a controlled substance and has addictive qualities.

The smartest thing to do is, whenever you see a new doctor, make sure you take your complete medical records or have copies of them sent to their office. Doing this lets them see documented information, from other physicians, on what has and what hasn't worked for you in the past. When you do this, doctors are more inclined to continue prescribing what has been proven to help you.
