Taking Xalerto 20mg 1x/day, on it for 2 months now. Having dental work done, a filling, possibly a crown instead. Take it with lunch. Advised to stop 2 days before, so stopping that days dose plus the day before, afternoon dental appt, then to start again day after dental appt. But may restart again day after see the dentist if only get a filling. Does all of this sound reasonable, afraid of getting a clot in that time, taking this for DVT's. Thanks for your response.

Hello, Grace! How are you?

That's actually a normal request for anyone taking blood thinners or anticoagulants. While there is some risk of your developing a lot, it is very small, there is actually a much higher risk of your bleeding too much, if you continue to take it. It's always best to follow your doctor's instructions to ensure the best possible outcome for you.

The FDA classifies this medication as a blood thinner. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising.

Is there anything else I can help with?
