I have been on Amitryptyline for about " weeks now 10mg daily, this is for depression and aura migraine. My breathing hasn't been too good recently either and frankly on and off getting worse. I was prescribed amoxicillin 500mg 5 days ago and today I have really been struggling to breath I have been taking my twice daily Asthma preventative and salbutomal as and when needed.Out of hours nurse told me this evening to start on my prednisolone (doctor told me only to take if wheezy) MY back is hurting along with my chest, how long before these meds kick in? I am feeling extremly uncomfortable again

Hello, Marie! How are you feeling? Sorry that you're so miserable.

The antibiotic should've kicked in already, so it may not be the right one to help you. Have you contacted your doctor? You may need to be switched to a different one.

The Prednisone may take a few days to have its full effect, but it is a pretty potent steroid.

Learn more Prednisone details here.

It may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, weight gain and fluid retention.
