Will Metronidazole Pliva 334 Get Rid Of Abcess In Gums (Top voted first)

I have an abcess in my gums my next door neighbor gave me metronidazole pliva 334 said it will stop the infection and help rid the abcess is this true

You need to see your dentist. While the FDA does classify Metronidazole as an antibiotic, so it may help, it will not fix whatever underlying problem has caused the abscess, such as a deep dental cary. Until you have that taken care of, the infection will keep returning and worsening. You also may not have enough to fully eradicate the infection, which creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistance.

Typical side effects to this antibiotic may include nausea, dizziness, headache and diarrhea.

Hi, I just had a root canal and my specialist put me on Flagyl 250 mgs. 3x/day and I'm also taking Amoxycillin 500 mgs. 3x/day. Will I experience side effects on this Flagyl at this dose? If so, I don't want to continue with it. I've just been on it for 24 hours and am feeling somewhat lightheaded, gas and belching and some pain in my abdomen which I've not had before.
