Will Penicillin 500mg Tablets Help Dry Up A Boil?

I have a couple of boils in my armpit, I have had these before and I'm doing home treatment of it, and I also have a prescription of Penicillin 500mg tablets, will this medication help dry up/heal the boils? The directions on the bottle is take 1 tablet four times a day.

Antibiotics sometimes can help with boils, but should only be taken if your doctor deems them appropriate.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of Penicillin as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
