I been taking suboxen strips for only three days now &I have been only taking a quarter of the strip or half of it at a time depending on how bad I feel.I was still feeling horrible so someone told me I wasn't taking enough. So around 7:00pm in the evening I took a whole 8mg strip BC I felt not so good.N I waited n waited for it to kick in&it never did.I was in with drawls & they got way worse not better.I felt better before I took it.Why did this happen? And I was in a small withdrawl state when I did take it,n already took some for days before,so was it just 2much at one time? Please help if anybody out there knows why this happened? And should I hang in there BC I have a very demanding job, very physical work.I can not feel like this or b like this. But do not want 2go back to using drugs or being on pain killers or methadone.

Hello, Jericho! How are you?

Yes, the lower dose likely hadn't kicked all the opiates out of your receptors, yet. So, suddenly taking a higher dose probably finished the job, since Suboxone clings to those receptors much stronger and cause more withdrawal.

That's how it causes precipitated withdrawals, it overpowers the opiates clinging to the receptors and takes their place. You have to be in full withdrawals, before taking Suboxone to avoid this happening. It may take a week or two, for the withdrawal effects to go away.

The best thing to do, of course, would be to get assistance from a doctor.

The FDA classifies this as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Is there anything else I can help with?
