Hi, the online store I normally purchase Imipramine HCL from said that customs prevented it from being sent saying its now considered a narcotic???? I don't understand how this can be.

If you got a rejection 'love letter' it is possible it is simply a form letter and you were sent the wrong one, Customs has done this before. They should have also sent you an appeal letter saying you can claim the drugs or allow customs to take possession. Assuming you have a valid prescription (you do right?) you can fill out the form and attach a copy of the prescription and send it in hoping for a reversal. It is typically better and faster to simply re-order the medication. You are of course always responsible for any customs import duties that need to be paid. In fact, the customs duties are almost 2x what you can get a prescription refilled at most big box stores for.

You asked why though, the answer could be as simple as a narcotics dog hit on the packaging, that is sufficient cause to stop a package. The hypothetical dog might have hit not on the contents but on package residue. In other words only the agent knows for sure.
