Why Wont My Sons Insurance Company Cover His Subutex
UpdatedIs there any kind of help I can get from the Mfg. I am a single Disabled Mom and I have to pay out of pocket $269 per month for his Subutex. Please let me know if you or the government has some type of program for us. Thank You. Rose {edited for privacy}

Hi Rose,
Based on my research, there don't appear to be any patient assistance programs available for Subutex (only Suboxone); however, I did come across a number of "Subutex prescription discount cards" through google that can save you anywhere from 5 to 80% off your prescription. You just print them out and show it to the pharmacist whenever you fill a prescription. I'm not sure exactly how much you'll save by going this route, but I'd imagine any sort of savings should be helpful. :)
Does anyone else has some suggestions?
It depends on where you live, but I go to the only doctor in the Elizabethton, Johnson City are of Tennessee that takes insurance for Suboxone treatment, and it's truly really aggravating to see him. An individual will go through what they have to in seeing him if they truly want to be clean though. The only thing I don't agree with is that he says it's not for pain, and that is not true. He says he has to say that and we are not aloud to say it as we have to write a page paper monthly for insurance purposes. We have to attend 2 mtngs a month, and are given drug panels every 2 wks, every wk at first.
Hello. I'm sorry for the trouble your having. The system is still majorly flawed in this field, not for sure about subutex. Strange a guy would get it in my area when it's reserved for pregnant or nursing mothers per it not having naloxone in it, but nevertheless there is a program that covers a year of the med suboxone if he qualifies. Low income and no insurance. My wife is currently awaiting approval for this. It will pay for one year of the meds. Not sure of the treatment (dr) or not. Just type in suboxone discounts. Im on my mobile so I don't have the actual web address. You will find a phone number. You call and tell them your situation. They mail you a form. You take it and a statement showing your income to your dr. They sign it and fax it in. Then it's a waiting game im sure if theirs one for suboxone then there's one for subutex. Just a guess though. Some hope is better than none. I'm under the impression that after march all sub drs will have to accept or at least preauthorize the drug for your med card. Good luck and keep up the fight. I will reply again when I get more info on this. Good luck.
