According to the FDA, there are no current shortages of Donnatal Extendtabs. You can see for yourself here:

Perhaps the back-order was only associated with the specific pharmacy you went to?

I too have been on Donnatal Extend tabs for 5 years and the shortage began in November of 2012. My pharmacy swept other pharmacy's in the area and were able to hold 180 pills for me that I made last until July 2013.
Donnatal's website even states, "Due to production issues there will be short term supply constraints on Donnatal® Extentabs. Both Donnatal® Tablets and Donnatal® Elixir are still available to prescribe to your patients as an alternative therapy until Donnatal® Extentabs once again become available."
I don't find the regular Donnatal to be as effective as the extended tabs.

Same for me, the extendtabs are so much better than the regular Donatal. I can't get the extendtabs now, been trying for over a year, and as recently as this week am still being told it is on backorder

No problem with the brand name Donnatal except its very expensive, what is hard to get is the generic form of the drug which most insurances will cover no problem. What I read in another forum was the only company that makes the generic has ceased production hence shortages for all.

Has anyone heard any updates on getting refills on Donnatal Extentabs again? I feel so much better on these than the regular and the regular is getting scarce too?
Has any of the compounding pharmacies been able to make something close?

I called the company and the donnatal extend tabs have been discontinued. There is no one producing them at all and no plans to do so. I would contact the company directly and plead your case for production of the extend tabs. I too am upset and scared about not having them available.
