Why Is Potassium In Amoxicillin Clavulanate

My husband is wondering if HE can get a yeast infection while taking Amoxicillin/Clavulanate with potassium. Also Wonder why is there potassium in this antiobotic?

Many antibiotics can cause yeast infections. I wouldn't go so far as to single one out over another as to my knowledge they can all be premature causes of yeast infections depending upon how each individual responds to the drug.

Regarding the addition of potassium, Amoxicillin + Clavulanate Potassium is actually just a more potent version of the original Amoxicillin. I'm not completely sure how this addition effects the way the drug is absorbed, but if your husband is really concerned about a yeast infection I would strongly suggest looking into natural alternatives, such as essential oils (oregano, thyme, clove, cinnamon, etc. - are all very powerful alternatives. There are plenty more however that I did not list).
