Who To Call When Methadone Clinic Is Mistreating Me?

I have been on maintenance at a Northern California Methadone Clinic for 6 years. I stopped using all on the day I walked in. Now I come in 1x per week and get 6 take homes. I have gotten in trouble for not being able to pee when asked a few times over the years and that is my only Failed Tests). My psych meds make me dehydrated and Clinic has a Doctors Note about that. I gave one Given this month and just spilled my cup into the toilet due to my poor grip (I have to have Neurosurgery on my neck and am getting a Nerve Conductivity Test to determine the loss of grip and numness in arms and hands) also the clinic ordered the wrong paper cups months ago, they usually have a handle on them good for women to grip. They said they were getting the right ones but its been ages anyway so I had ti grip a tiny rim while trying to manuver it under the right place and try to go, it was an accident. I have a Counselor there that sides with the Staff evertime and I am afraid to ask her cause she always sais They Dont Care, Im not gonna tell them that. They will make me go there 4 Days A Week instead of 1 day a week. I cant do that Ill forget and then ILL HAVE TO COME EVERY DAY! Its not fair, I havent used the hole time, no dirty test just a few Givens. Please tell me where I can get an advocate. I have to have dangerous surgery soon and cant go there more often! tHANKS

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear of your difficulty dealing with your clinic. Some time ago I volunteered with an east coast small advocacy group. Complaints and issues are ideally first filed with clinical administration. If results are not forthcoming you can always access assistance through methadone.org on the net. Most clinics follow specific protocol if they are accredited through your particular state. This can be a lengthy and complicated procedure that's why trying to reach a resolution with your individual clinic is preferred. I was blessed to be on a semi-private facility that was very responsive to clinic issues and was always overly fair. I understand that's the exception but gratitude sometimes shifts a negative attitude. In my case that saved my treatment at the time. Good luck and I hope your situation can be rectified. Regards.
