Nonsense! Naloxone was synthesized and patented by Fishman and Lewenstein in the early 1960's (US Patent #3254088) and developed for clinical medicine and FDA approval (NDA # 016636, April 13, 1971) by Endo Laboratories, Inc., a NY-based pharma company.

The actual discover and patenting of the substance and the FDA approvals of formulations of it for certain uses can be very different.

Just as another example, there is an original patent that was issue when Oxycodone was discovered, but then there are separate FDA approvals for each formulation of it that was invented and tested for safety an efficacy, such as the instant release, the regular release and the timed release.
