White Round Pill M18 Vs White Round Pill C73
(Newest replies first)

I have a recent prescription for metoprolol. To get me started, the nurse gave me some she had in stock that had M 18 on it. The prescription I received in the mail has C 73 on it. I've seen descriptions for each which seem different to me but both are described as metoprolol. Are these really the same prescription drugs with the same active chemical analysis?

(and Pon # 4)
Yes, they contain the same active ingredient and should do the same job. The only difference are the inactive ingredients (fillers).
Are the m18 and c73 the same medicine?
Is C73 the same as M18. Can I take either one and do the same job. ??
Re: Verwon (# 1)
I am losing a lot of hair all the way down to the root, Did not know this could be the culprit...why is this not on the label but I am 69 with lots of medical issues..thanks so much!!
Yes, they certainly are the same medication. Metoprolol is actually a generic, so it's manufactured by several different companies and they all have to use different markings on their tablets to enable them to be identified and traced back to them, in case of an emergency. The way they look is entirely up to their whit and whim, there are no constraints on that, as long as they used the inactive ingredients that the FDA considers safe. It creates some market competition to help keep prices down as much as possible for people that don't have insurance.
Metoprolol is a beta blocker that's most commonly used to help treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. It may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and hypotension. If you start to lose a lot of hair while taking it, or to experience a lot of joint/muscle pain, those could be the signs of a serious reaction and you should contact your doctor immediately.
