White Watson 853 Smaller With Bluish Tint
UpdatedMy latest Watson 853s are slightly smaller, the score line a tad thinner & the color isn't as white. It looks like it's not as shiny, maybe less coating, & the color has kind of a bluish tint to the white. I had a few of my old ones to compare them to, otherwise I might not have noticed. I read on other boards that Watson had been bought by Actavis & didn't know if this was their version of the Watsons. Has anyone else noticed this?

Hi Sheba,
Did you get these from a real licensed pharmacy or are you just ordering them off the internet from overseas?
Reason I ask is because Watson was in fact bought out by Actavis, but their legitimate pills are recognized as being a white, oblong, scored tablet imprinted with "WATSON 853". They are NOT known to have a blue tinge to them either, which signifies a possible counterfeit in my opinion. Also the fact that they are smaller than what you're used to getting is a red flag as well.
Just for reference: the old WATSON 853 (made by Watson at the time), were reported to be yellow in color. When Actavis took over, they changed the formula and made them white in appearance. However you can always verify this through Actavis via their U.S. Customer Relations Department at +1 (800) 272-5525 for more specific details regarding the pill you have.
Hope this info helps!
Did you ever determine if the meds you had were fake or if the manufacturer made a change or a batch issue? I have heard that this is a issue and the pills that look a little off don't work the same so wanted to hear your experience with taking the meds... did you notice a difference in the effect or did they just look different?
No, I didn't get them on the internet, to answer David's question. I did wonder if that might have been the issue myself. Saying they had a blue tint may have been a little too much. The shade of white was different. I don't know how else to describe it.
Yes, they seemed to work the same. It just disturbed me since I am so anal about my meds. If my Inderal has a different marking or shade of green I freak out. It was a mom & pop pharmacy, I stopped going there & started using a large chain store. Haven't had that happen again.
I just got off the phone with the manufacturer of the new white Watson's and they were no help at all. They kept blaming the problem on the fillers even when I pointed out that the active ingredient (hydrocodone) should still provide me with pain relief. They actually told me I should switch to a different manufacturer. They claim it's the first they've heard of problems with the Watson 853 but that's gotta be impossible with as many complaints as I've seen online.they don't care about their customers.
