White Pill With V On Front And 58 98 Back

I was prescribed sulfamethoxazole-TMP DS. The pill is oval with a V on the font and 58|98 on the back. It does not smell like sulfur at all, and my urine has not smelled of sulfur. Do I have the right medicine?

Yes, you do have the right medication.

Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim is a sulfur based antibiotic, but it is not actual sulfur, so it will not smell like it or cause your urine to smell like it.

Side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, skin rash and diarrhea.
