Hmmmm, not sure I understand here. Did you mean you were on 7.5 of oxycodone and 325 of an inflammatory and the doctor put you on Oxycontin 5 mg???

What??? Alajak, where in the H do you get your info? There definitely IS a 7.5mg oxycodone in the form of Percocet......oxycodone/acetaminophen. It comes in 5, 7.5, and 10 MG's.

Since there is no such thing as 7.5 oxycodone, pretty sure they were talking about 7.5 HYDROCODONE, which, l guess, is less potent than 5 oxy.

although the 7.5 is a higher dosage the contents of the 5 are better for certain ailments. For instance if you have a toothache a 5 tends to be alot more effective then even a 30

I actually take oxy 30's for a shattered backbone (car accident :( + all of my ribs were broken, etc.) It works very well for me, and due to the nature/strength of the drug, i TRY to take the doses in halves when my pain is not overwhelming*--it really depends on how active I have been--please listen when I tell you that the very BEST/MOST efficient thing you can do is walk...walk around your neighborhood, walk at the gym, on the treadmill, the local track, anywhere (safe:)---it will help more than you could EVER imagine even though it doesn't seem so, as u r in lots of pain. Until it became 100degrees in GA, I walked 2-3 miles per day and felt great. I cannot tolerate the heat though and have had a horrible pain relapse since stopping the daily walking. Def. ask your Dr why he decreased your dosage--and also FYI--oxy's do not contain the Acetaminophen (Tylenol)--the reason ,any MD's prescribe oxycodone in it's simple form is bc Tylenol is hard on your liver...obviously you are taking Endocet- (generic Percocet brand)- since it is a combo--there is a chance he/she switched you from the Percocet - to the lesser Oxycodone (in it's pure form-no Tylenol) bc it is often believed to be more potent w/o the Tylenol...You should really consult your dr. How long have you taken this pain med?

I think it's obvious to say that Acetaminophen (325 mg) + Oxycodone (7.5 mg) with the higher dose is stronger than the one with only 5 mg of Oxycodone and the same dosage of Acetaminophen. What i'm confused on, is why the doctor would give you a lower dose when you told him it wasn't working (or not strong enough I presume)?

Some reviews I have come across say that it depends whether or not the medication is the generic version V.S. an off brand version, that determines how effective it may be. I personally can't verify this, but it seems to be a common trend in making sure you get the right brand of Oxycodone to find what suits your needs. I would assume that your doctor gave you the 5 mg dose of a more potent brand, rather than up the dose of your current one. But I may be totally wrong, so I would suggest asking your doctor about his reasoning for lowering your dose and you may come to find out that the above is true, or if the doctor simply made a mistake on the dosage.
