I am in a confusing debate with my ex husband: Which is stronger, 30 mg of morphine sulfate E.R or 10 mg of methadone?

I've been on 150 mg of Methadone for the last 10 years, untill these new GOVT guidelines were put into effect, and now I'm down to 30 mg of Methadone.... Please somebody please help me...... Could I move to morphine? I need 24 hrs coverage. Pls email me {edited for privacy}. Thanks and may GOD BLESS YOU GUYS!

Im on a 125mg of methadone..have been for over 3months now. And its 10times better then morphine and it has a half life on it..as with morphine it dont have a half life u have to take it around the clock sometimes every 4hours depending on the person..but hands down methadone is way stronger and last way longer..the only thing about methadone is it stores in the bones and its one hell of a withdraw if your not takeing off it correctly..its like almost a 30day withdraw as with morphone its more of a 3day withdraw if anything a week tops..so just be careful and take ur meds the right way and ull be just fine.

Try using a Opiates amplifier that will booster the medication, LIKE Cimetidine, but as ALWAYS BE DAM CAREFUL, space the 200 mg Cimetidine at 1/2 hr interim to get best responses, and up to 800 mg, this Kicks but for me ,but that's alot and as Alway there's that tolerance issue , and read up on THE issue, don't just take my WORD, I work on metal as in a machinist, so please be CAREFUL

I went from.120mg a day to 80 and then 40 and finally to 20. My nerve pain from.amputation is still controlled and breathing better. Your heart gets lots of damage from long term use n high doses. I waz.on them for 14 years and now trying to get off and go to a drug less addictive and dangerous.

My dad has the same exact issue !! We are in Maine now and they are lowering him hard and fast! And took my mother completely off of them and she has colitis!!! I don't like watching my parents go through this pain and its ridiculous that they say 1-10mg is equivalent to 30mg of morphine?! It doesn't even make any since .. My mom was in a horrible car accident in 2001 and has added life long pains from it on top other colitis she was on about 12mg a day then dropped to 40 mg a week then 30mg on the 2nd week 20mg 3rd week and then 10mg on the 4th week then cut her off ... My mom is in horrific pain and swelling all day from her disease and damage from her car accident .. She's been on methadone for about 15 years now , was diagnosed with colitis 24 years ago.they guinea pigged her for.. About a decade and NOTHING ever helped they gave her demoral shots all the time and she hated it !! So finally they introduced methadone to her for chronic pain and its the only thing to work , dulls her pain ...docs always treated her like drug addicts and she's jot she's in severe pain all the time and the only doctor that cared to figure out what would work for her , finally found something and it just happens to me methadone .. They wanted to try oxycontins at first but she didn't want them cause she has seen the reaction to that drug... Which methadone does not make u feel or react the same way ( if not abused ) that doctor she had for 23 years just moved to a different hospital and is soon retiring so we don't have him anymore as of July 2015 .. Her new doctor ... Let's just say , is not a kind hearted person by no means and feels the need to "use the power " so to speak ... I was told u legally cannot take chronically / terminally ill patients off of their meds like that! .. Unless urine tests don't come out clean ..but hers always have , and so has mg dad .. His doctor ( same clinic too but different doc than mom's ) and lowering it slowly , not eliminating like the other doctor ..has used to 90mg now he's at 60 and his back pain is coming back around the same hours as your . He was struck by lighting in the military back in the 80s and fell off a 30 foot building and the tent thing ( it was in the rain ) that protected then from getting wet , got tangled in his foot and that blew off with him too .. Now the "gel" between ur spine ... His are disintegrating away and have been for years so the side bones of the spine have no separation so how they grind against each other ... After 20 mins of standing or walking he's in bad pain .. Sits for about 20 mins .. He's in bad pain .. He's up in down all the time ...I haven't seen him do that in years cause his methadone has helped ..bit now he's doing it again cause it's not enough and his or my mom's body isn't and don't adapt :( .... I know u wrote this forever ago and may not see this but not you do ... How did ur situation turnout ?? It'd be much appreciated if u have anymore info to help ! ???? - Brittany {edited for privacy}

There are so many ppl with the same problem. It will never change if we remain silent. They know that pain patients are scare of having meds discontinued so they use the fear to pass crazy legislation in the name of drugs addiction. The only thing is getting drug addicts in treatment and leaving medical patients alone. We can't be silent anymore. We must take a stand. There are a lot of us that vote.

I truly understand how you feel. I've been seeing my pain doc for 5 years have fibromyalgia, bulging discs, degenerative disc and joint disease and lots more... this doctor started out giving me 5mg of methadone 2× a day then 5 mg once a day with break thru med so I go in on June he out of no where says we are utting u back to 25 tabs I said why? His response was we don't normally give this type of md out for a long period of time!! He's been giving thus to me for 5 years. So I go back in July and ask him to please pit me back on my 30 tabs as he has prescribed to take daily for chronic pain he only gives me 28. He then makes me wait for 4 days to get my scripts filled I'm in the process of trying to see another pain doctor in in so much pain and it's like he could care less..

You really need to get your facts correct..not everyone abuses the system. methadone clinics were put on this earth to help people with substances abuse. It's not meant for pain management, its your husband's choice to stand in line with everyone else..if he's in so much pain like you say he is and he's been on everything from oxy to fentanyl ..then he should have no prpb finding a pain management doc that would be more than happy to help him..so once again think before u speak, not everyone is abusing the system..its people like you that make the ones that are trying to get off drugs like opioids look bad..do and like I said clinic wasn't meant for pain management its meant for drug addiction..

I take 15mg methadone daily. 5mg 3times a day. And 10/325 hydrocodone 4 times daily for break thru. What would be a suitable replacement for both

Your dumb man..idk what clinic your talking about but the clinics in Ohio don't do that kinda stuff..they don't make you ask permission to leave town first off..and that don't keep increasing your dose either the highest anyone can be on is 200mg a day and after a year they start to bring you down on your dose..and most people in the clinic program are there 2 maybe 3years at the most so u might wanna experience the stuff yourself befor you just start talking stupid stuff..not everyone is addict's and clinic are met to help addiction that's what they are put on this earth for man. The reason I go is cause I was on fentnyal 100mcg every 48hrs and oxy 20mg every 8hrs for break through pain and the doc I was seeing for over 13,yes past away unexpectedly and insted of going through the hell of trying to find a different doc I decided to get off the meds and methadone's helped a lot not only with the withdrawal but with my pain so its all good..but anyway like I said u might want to experience things first hand before you start talking like you know it all..obviously u don't know about how clinics work.thanks

Morphine is weaker then hydrocodone? Are u stones or just stupid dude? I don't know where you get your info but your wronge..hydrocodone is basically a vicdon and that is nothing compared to morphine.it cracks me up seeing some of the comments on here its like u can tell who's just starting out on there rd to addiction and who's been down that rd a long time already..and then you got the ones who speek so low of clinics but yet clinics help addiction ..it just cracks me up ..duh some people are so dang stupid

Oh my,...I take 215mg of methadone a day. I still have pain. I had been givin 15mg ER of moraphine...was wondering how much to take of the moraphine to help...so basically the entire bottle wouldn't help??

Report him to the medical board or better yet talk to an attorney and file a legal suit for cruel and unusual punishment, but before you do try and stock up on your methadone.

I recently moved from az to ny temporarily I was on a methadone maintenance program.i came to ny with 3 weeks of takehomes.my last dose was for 10/19 and was at the ny first thing on 10/20 after waiting all day they told me they were not happy with the docs order and would not medicate me and referred me to another clinic.today I spent the day at clinic #4 except with the exception of the first clinic who denied me because they didn't like the doctors order which by the way wAs faxed to them clinics 2,3,4,denied me mainly because of missing 2.3. And now 4 days. If someone knows how to solve this problem I could really use some advice.thank you

Don't call someone a drug addict, when you clearly have no idea what this persons history is! I was on 180mgs of Methadone. Tapered down to 100mgs, it's the only P.O. That works for me. I've been on OxyContin, Fentynl Patches, Hydromrphone etc. etc.

Methadone is much stronger than morphine.... Methadone has blocking compound ingredients so the patient does not feel much euphoria... Used for chronic pain. Morphine does not has blocking agents so it may FEEL like its stronger.... But much much much less potent than methadone

Rather then relying on varying levels of misinformation simply take a few moments and consult an opioid conversation chart that explains the ratio of strength in any given grouping. That said methadone is one of the most powerful synthetic opioids on the planet.
