When Is Methylprednisolone Most Significant During 6 Day Dos

I’m taking the 21 tablet, 6 day pack of methylprednisolone. I’m wondering when is the medicine at it’s highest level of potency during the 6 day (or after) period? I’m taking this to have oral serger because the nerve would not numb for a root canal. Apparently I have what is referred to as “angry nerve?” I was asked to start the Rx 3 days prior to surgery (6 pils the first day and decreasing one a day till gone). Today is my appointment for the root canal and I’ll be taking 3 pills (one prior to appointment). I guess I’m just wondering if the drug is still as strong in my system having taken only one before surgery?

This is a steroid class medication, so it will not alleviate an infection, or pain, it is used to reduce the inflammation, therefore, the amount you take, before this procedure should not have an affect on your surgery. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, fluid retention, weight gain, and acne.

Were you also given an antibiotic? Usually, the infection must be mostly gone, before the nerve can be numbed for such a procedure, which usually takes about 3 days.

There was no infection. The only problem was an angry root. The steroids have an affect on the inflammation around the root and the hope was to lesson irritated root by lessening inflammation around it. I’m so glad I did it because 3rd times a charm. After steroids, less Novocain worked, no pain and I can chew and drink cold water after 1.5 years. I’m over the moon happy??????
