What's The Difference Between Oxycontin 80mg And Opana Er 40mg (Top voted first)

I have been taking this med app. 6 months, oxycontin 80mg, they just changed it to opana ER 40mg., does anyone know the difference? Does anyone know which is better for arounf the clock severe pain? Thank you

Opana (Oxymorphone) is a fair but stronger than Oxycontin. And if you're looking into equivalent doses, to give you an idea, it would take 6.67mg of Oxycodone to equal 10mg of Morphine, but just 3.33mg of Opana to be the same. [1] So in theory, 40mg Opana ER should deliver the same therapeutic effects of 80 mg Oxycodone. I hope this helps to clear things up a bit!

They are both different opiates, but you've been given an equivalent dose.

There really is no better or best medication that anyone should tell you, it depends on you and what works best to relieve your pain.

Have you tried the Opana, yet?

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Opana is probably one of the strongest narcotics out there for in home use. I'm not talking about injectables, pills only. It has very powerful very addictive opiates. It will most definitely cure what ails you on the pain spectrum!!! Stay safe.
