Whats The Difference Between Percocet & Morphine

I've been taking percocet 7.5/350 mg. for 3 yrs. I was recently prescribed morphine 15mg-cr and I am not getting much pain relief from the morphine. I thought and was told morphine is stronger than percocet but I got more relief from the percocet than I do from the morphine. I of course plan on telling my dr. asap but was just woundering in the meantime.

Actually, Oxycodone is one and half times stronger than Morphine, plus the Percocet also contained Acetaminophen, which helps the Oxycodone to work better.

And not every medication works for everyone that tries it, so it could just be that the Morphine isn't effective for you and you may need to switch back to Oxycodone, or Percocet.

Morphine ER is a extended release where as Percocet is an immediate release drug. That's probably why you are still in pain.

I can tell u without a doubt that if it's pain u want gone, morphine is your answer but if you are looking to feel some kind of buzz up uptake in energy, you won't feel it on the morphine. MORPHINE JUST PLAIN GETS RID OF PAIN AND MAKES YOU FEEL AS THOUGH THE PAIN WAS NEVER EVEN THERE, until u stop it, of course. 15mg is a low dose but not to start out with. It always take three days to fully get I to your system, so on the third day you are feeling the full effect of the first dose, part of the second and a smaller part of the third. Of course this also means that when you run out and stop taking the morphine you will not fully feel the effects of it being out of your system until u don't take any on the fourth day.

My back injury is so severe I was stuck flat on my back and when they started me on just 15mg of morphine I got my life back after the third day. Of course 15mg is a pretty low dose, but not to start out with and they may increase it gradually but enjoy the days that only 15mg works magic since your body isn't used to it. IF YOU REALLY WANT TO GET RID OF PAIN AND FEEL AS IF THERE WERE NEVER AN INJURY THERE, morphine if the answer but you won't get a buzz or high. YOU CAN FEEL DETOX SYSTEMS IF YOU STOP TAKING MORPHINE ABRUBTLY- but only after the fourth day. YOU MUST TAKE THE MORPHINE EVERYDAY AT THE SAME TIME TO GET THE BEST RESULTS SO TAKE IT EVEN IF U ARENT HURTING- it's medicine for the pain your body will be feeling later and tomorrow and on the third day. TAKE AS DIRECTED AND IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE- it could honestly get rid of your pain forever!! (It you ever have to have it increased, you still need to take like clockwork. But do yourself a favor and don't let doctor pass 75mg per day, that's the line where you start not being able to feel emotion or have any thoughts or memory of actions, past 90 my. Thank God your doctor finally put you on morphine if you really want to get rid of pain but it's not what you want if you are looking for buzz or high or energy pickup. Sorry. It's truly a pain medication, the aBest ever!!

Hi, I was on percocet, lortabs, had to go off due to liver issues can't take anything with Tylenol or nsaids my PM changed me to morphine sulfate 15 mgs er, took about 3 days to start working. After I went back in I explained it wasn't lasting the full 12 hours so the doc gave me morphine sulfate IR to take in afternoon after about two weeks I see a big difference for the better. I did try from a friend oxymorphone it was great took all my pain away but I woke with very stiff joints especially my hands. My complaint is I had to go to 8 pharmacy's for the two meds. They say that they didn't get their DEA slips to order them. This is really becoming a royal pain to keep hunting down my meds. All I can say is its no wonder there are so many drug dealers and Street junkies, if you can't obtain legally what do they expect chronic TRUE pain suffers to do? Totally sad. And I agree the PM'S all have terrible bedside manners. They should have to go to compassion classes as often as we take UA'S. Also I have been going to the same doc for over two years and never once failed a drug panel, but I still have to pay for one every couple months, I think the dam government got too involved in what a trained doc says you need. That's all just my two cents worth! Also it seems to have gotten worse under obamacare. Just my thoughts.

The only main difference between the two (Percocet and Morphine) is that Morphine is a time released version and remains in your blood longer and most Percocet is a "right now" pain killer.

I am having severe pain after rotator cuff surgery and have been prescribed percocet 5/325. Can I add morphine 15mg extended release to help with pain? Is it safe?

I was currently taking 6 10/325 of Percocet but still have quite a bit of back pain issues. I’ve had L5-S1 fused back in 1987 and a neck fusion in 2003. My new pain doctor told me since I was taking a lot of Percocet and not feeling like it helps the pain enough that she recommended I take Morphine Sulfate 15mg ER (5 a day). Is this the equivalent of the Percocet as far as pain meds are concerned?
