What To Expect With Meloxicam

Hello, I am a new meloxicam user - pinched torn meniscus and knee arthritis. I felt pain relief the first day I took it - yippee. Knee replacement has been suggested but since I feel a huge improvement on the med (no to little pain, no limp, can bend without pain) thinking I can postpone surgery. Can you tell me an estimate of long I can expect benefit from 15 mg 1 per day?

There is really no definitive time frame I can give you. The time period that a medication remains effective can vary from person to person. One person may be able to take the same dose for years, with good results, while someone else finds it only helps them for a few months.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation.

If they are recommending surgery, you may want to consider having it anyway, even though the medication is helping, because avoiding it may cause your condition to worsen.
