What Is The Shortest Time For Effective Treatment
UpdatedMy 15year old daughter is on 10mg lexamil for burn out depression. She really would like to stop the treatment. As far as I know it is recommended to stay on the treatment at least for 6 months to a year. I can not consult the psychiatrist in this matter. Please advise!

Why doesn't she want to stay on it? It would really be best for her to follow the doctor's instructions.
Stopping it abruptly, or too soon may result in rebound depression, suicidal thoughts, irritability and violent acts, as detailed by the NIH.
Is she on any other medications? Has she been experiencing side effects?
