What Is The Difference Between Percocet 5/325 And Oxycodone 5/325

I was prescribed Percocet 5/325 for shingles. Then my Dr switched it to oxycodone 5/325. What is the difference between the two?

To me it just sounds like they switched you from the brand name to the generic which contains the same active ingredients and doses. Do you have any other details about the new prescription such as a NDC number or manufacturer name?

Percocet has Tylenol in it and oxycodone does not...

Diamond88 you are right but I want to expand on your message just a bit.

Percocet does have Acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol) in it, but it also contains Oxycodone as an active ingredient. Straight Oxycodone is different than Percocet.

So, in other words ... Percocet = Acetaminophen + Oxycodone ... Oxycodone is a drug in and of itself which is sometimes an ingredient in other combination drugs.

Yea I was on ratio-oxycocets too...now they switched me on oxycodone 5/325 ...but dont feel the same effects on these oxycodones .I still feel aches on oxycodones????
